Ductless/Split AC

Advantages of going ductless

Going ductless isn’t cheap however, it is far cheaper than having the ductwork installed for a central air conditioning system. There are plenty of other advantages, too.

  • You can cool one room or area of your home at a time, which is far more efficient if you’re using just one room.
  • Zoning is simple.
  • Less energy is wasted as much of the cool air is lost in the ductwork, there is no risk of that with a ductless system.
  • It’s a far less intrusive and detailed process when compared to installing central air conditioning.

The system is generally just a unit that we will mount to the wall indoors and has an outdoor compressor. The most common situation where they are used is in older homes that cannot accommodate ductwork, apartments, and for those on a tight budget.

Efficient and effective

They’re also energy efficient since the ductwork isn’t gobbling up 25% of the energy. If you choose an ENERGY STAR model you might save as much as 30% on your utility costs.

The system does require maintenance, but that’s something the homeowner can take care of easily. The filters just need to be washed monthly (if you have pets or you smoke indoors then you may need to do this more often). It’s also an important aspect of ensuring your system lasts.

This option is growing in popularity and has opened up air conditioning for many more homeowners. If you are considering air conditioning then you should really think about whether this system is right for you. It’s the perfect option for anyone who doesn’t have the space for ductwork.

Why us?

The most critical aspect of choosing a ductless system is hiring the right contractor to take care of it for you. You could choose to do it yourself, however, this will likely void your warranty. If your system isn’t installed properly then it won’t perform properly. You could purchase the wrong size of system for the room, fail to seal the wall penetration correctly or mishandle the sensitive electric work.
